This is an original 1910 black and white halftone print of the patio at the historic San Miguel Mission in California.
Ernest Clifford Peixotto
Ernest Clifford Peixotto (1869-1940) was a native of San Francisco, California, prior to relocating to New York City. He was most recognized for his etchings, illustrations, murals, graphic art design, mosaics, paintings and pen sketches, as well as his realism style. His works primarily centered on architecture, landscapes, portraits, streetscapes, genre, figure, cityscapes, historical events and sites and war and military subjects. Peixotto has had his art exhibited at the 1915 Panama Pacific Exhibition, the Art Institute of Chicago, Paris Salons, the San Francisco Art Association, the Mystic Art Association, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Salmagundi Club, the National Academy of Design and the Society of Illustrators. He was affiliated with the Bohemian Club, the American Federation of Arts, the National Society of Mural Painters, the National Academy of Design, the Mystic Art Association, the Society of Illustrators and the Salmagundi Club. Peixotto received his formal art education at the Academie Julian, the Brandywine School and the San Francisco School of Design. He also studied under Howard Pyle, Emil Carlsen, Jules-Joseph Lefebvre and Benjamin Jean-Joseph Constant.
